Remote Storytime, 3-8s & families

In 2021/2022, we planned a remote story sessions over Facebook Live.
We planned a series of creative play sessions delivered live on Facebook for children ages 3 and up, and their families.

INTERACTIVE STORYTELLING SESSIONS

LYT offered a wide range of Storytelling sessions. Every session was interactive and participatory.

A strong engaging narrative is supported by puppets, song and music.

All our sessions explored relationships, communication, and worked to the SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) outcomes and the national curriculum.

The age-specific stories are suitable for schools, early years settings, libraries and Children’s Centres.

The Boo Hoo Baby for children aged 3 to 5 (Nursery & Reception)

The Land of Giants for ages 4 to 7 (Reception – Year 3)

The Fire Bird from the Russian Folk Tale for ages 8 to 11s (Years 3-6)

The Boy in the Trees from the story by Italo Calvino for ages 9 to 11s (Years 5-7)

For ages 3 – 5 years (Nursery to Year 1):

The Boo Hoo Baby (currently not available)

from the board book by Cressida Cowell

Baby Boo needs something, but what it is he just doesn’t know!

Through song, puppets and simple word repetition, and the help of Boo’s toys, the children take part in helping Boo to get what he needs.

Details:

  • We can fit the storytelling session to your space & your times.
  • We can perform inside or outside (depending on weather of course).
  • Works for a class to a maximum of 30 children
  • We will provide posters to spread the work to your children & families.
  • Running time 30 to 40 minutes

The Land of Giants (currently not available)

Finn is the smallest Giant in his school and the biggest giant wants to play.

Can Finn’s sister help them to learn to play together?

Taken from an ancient Irish legend this participatory piece uses puppet & song to examine restorative justice.


For school years 4-7:

Space Girl (currently not available)

Mary Moon is nine years old. Her friends call her Space Girl because her Dad is an astronaut. Mary hasn’t seen her Dad since last week and no one will tell her where he is!

Join Mary on her mission to the moon as she boldly goes in search of her Dad.

This interactive story is full of facts about the moon, the planets and the solar system. It is a great starting point or revision for work on earth, space and the Science Curriculum for Keystage 1 & 2

The Boy in the Trees (currently not available)

It is Italy 500 years ago and Cosimo is just 10 years old.

He tries so hard to please his family but when they give him snail soup for breakfast, again, he decides enough is enough!

Taken from the short story by Italo Calvino this tale explores family relationships, how we listen and communication.

The story is followed by a drama workshop.

For year group 5, 6 & 7.

Storyteller’s Workshop (currently not available)

A very interactive session where children get to be part of the story.  Based on the Grimm’s fairy tales, children act out parts, learn to work together to create the scene, and dress up as characters!
